Mr. P. ran this Want Ad in the Star in an effort to sell his home: • fOR SALE—8-room brick residence, 105x170: feet, cornerj will sell cheap. X 0<M), Star. ___ This Want Ad obviously has no pic ture-making power. It couldn’t con jure up a picture oi Mr. P.’s house in the minds of prospective buyers, and this is extremely KMpful to a quick sale. Mr. P., not receiving good response from the above Want Ad, heeded the slogan, "the more you tell, the quicker you sell,” and ran this Want Ad: NORTH EDGE WATER RESIDENCE Eight rooms, brick, strictly modern, sun parlor and snn porch; 2 baths; 4 lavatories, hardwood throughout, ma hogany finish. In good residential dis trict; 3 ear garage; hot water heat; j 165x170 feet, corner; shrubbery and fruit trees; good transportation; will sell cheap on easy terms. Mr. P., OOOO N. Clark street. Rogers Park OOpO. This second Want Ad sold the house. The secret of this Want Ad’s success „ is evident. It contained enough in formation to give a person looking for just that kind of house a definiw picture of one worth his investigat ing. The Star is trying to reduce these ineffective, vasteful Want Ads to the barest whisper of a minimum. It has been spreading the doc trine of "the more you tell, the quicker you Bell." This slogan has been found to be ef fective for the correction of fau/ty Want Ads, because It states a fundamental sales principle which when intelligently applied pays dividends of greater returns per dollar invested. Let us help you write your ads. so you can consummate the deal that your ad., ordinarily written, would create. We would like to show you HOW "The More You Tell, ifrhe More You Sell—and the Quicke, You Sell.” Call Phone 51 and ask for the Classified Ad. Graham Back Impressed With Platoon System of Cleveland Schools. Declaring that he is favorably im pressed with studies he made, of tl>» platoon school organization in Cl. . . land, Maj. W. A. Graham, superintend, ent of public instruction, who returned yesterday, after attending the eon vention of the National Educational as sociation department of superin tend ance, stated that he thought well of th„, work-study-play program and exp res*, ed the opinion that it is possible suci an organization may be perfected in the public schools of this city. While in Cleveland, Major Graham visited several of the schools wher.-'n the platoon system is in operation, he stated yesterday that the work, study-play program’s chief claim waj for economy in expense and also in economizing pn space, as all parts of the school buildings can be utilized at all times. Another phase that makes the system ! attractive, 'Major Graham explained, is that it makes use of tlje services of all the teachers, espec allj* those teaching special subjects, and does not inter fere with the work of the regular class room teachers. On account of the congestion exist ing in the public schools here, and be cause of the absence of special sub jects from the curriculum, Major Gra ham reports that he regards the pla toon system as practical for Wilming ton, as it would permit the addition of music, drawing and physical education to the curriculum. On his return to Wilmington, Major Graham stopped at Petersburg, to at tend the 37th district Rotary conven. tionfl and he reported that the Rotsri ans staged a most successful meeting, Educational Southeastern Truckers Meet in Warsaw Today Truckers of the southeastern part e! the state who, today will meet in Warsaw to confer with officials of the Seaboard Air Line, the Atlantis ! The meeting will be presided over by : Traffic Expert Askea, of the Goldsboro chamber of commerce and quite a num ber of truckers from this section are expected to be in attendance on tin meeting, for trucking is one of th'e principal industries of this area an* | the securing of better service will mean i much for the ones who annually snip jlarge quantities of different fruits ami ! vegetables to the northern markets. Lettuce has already begun to mov< and strawberries are due for shipment within a few more weeks and t!w growers are anxious that plans to im prove the service can be mapped out and completed before the berries begin moving.
